Although I am no longer serving in the Primary Presidency, I thought I would share this from my files.

Week 2: Jesus Christ is the perfect example for me.

Introduce the doctrine: Sing “Do As I’m Doing” (CS, 276), and ask the children to follow you as you do several simple actions, such as clapping your hands, stretching your arms above your head, or marching in place.
Ask the children to name some things they have learned by following someone’s example (for example, how to make a bed or play a game). Write on the board “Jesus Christ is the perfect example for me.” Testify that Christ was the only person who has lived on the earth who has set the perfect example for us to follow. Have the children read the sentence together.
Show the three empty bags  labeled “Peacemakers,” “Kindness,” and “Loving and Serving.”  Say, “We can’t do all the things that Jesus Christ did, but, like Him, we can be kind, we can be peacemakers, and we can love and serve others.”
Following the example of Jesus is a sweet feeling.  We can make others feel good when we follow His example.
Have a child choose a strip of paper and read (or you read) the situation . Ask, “What would you do?” or “How would you like to be treated if this happened to you?”
Place the candy piece in the correct bag. Complete as many situations as possible.

Sing “I’m trying to be like Jesus” with the children, and then bear testimony of the “sweetness” of following the example of Jesus Christ.

Primary Talk, Heavenly Father Speaks to us through Prophets

I was thinking about those of you with Primary aged children who be called on to give a talk in Primary.   This would be also a good for Family Home Evening.

March: Heavenly Father Speaks to Us through His Prophets

In my ward we have Stake conference and a temple dedication in March, so we will only be teaching the first and 4th Sunday. So I tried to use Prophets from the past and the present.

Weeks 1 and 2: Prophets speak for Heavenly Father.

Introduce the doctrine: Invite a child to come to the front of the room. Tell the other children to follow his or her instructions. Whisper simple instructions to the child, such as, “Tell them to put their hands on their heads” or “Tell them to quietly say hello to the person sitting next to them.” Repeat with several other simple instructions, ending with “Tell them to fold their arms.” Ask the children how they knew what you wanted them to do. Explain that one of the ways Heavenly Father andJesus Christ send messages to people on earth is by speaking to Their servants and then commanding those servants to speak to the people. Ask, “Who are the servants who speak for Heavenly Father and Jesus?” Have the children say together, “Prophets speak for Heavenly Father.”
Encourage understanding: Explain that we are going to play a new game.  Its called " Who wants to know the way? Follow the Prophet"  You will need:  2 to 3 teachers or leaders to be the "phone a friend", (you can use play phones or cell phones, or even pretend to use a phone. The scriptures, a hymn book, a copy of "Miracle of forgiveness" and a copy of a " Christmas train"  Or you could print the covers of those two books, or print articles from Church Magazines written by Spencer W. Kimball and Thomas S. Monson. and choosing sticks or a way to choose a child to come up.
Play  “Who wants to know the way? Follow the Prophet”
Place the Game board Title on the board.
Draw a name of a child.

Start the game and draw  the 100 Blessing card. (You have the option of singing the verse to them, leaving off the name, to help them guess.)
Have the student give the answer to the question.
Ask “Final Answer?” and then choose the appropriate answer box.
If a student would like to use "50/50", "Phone a Teacher" or "Look in the book", Use the appropriate card.  Once they get the correct answer, post a teaching of that Prophet under the Game board title. If they miss the question, they can "repent" and choose another "Help" to answer correctly. Continue till they get it right.  We want everyone to "Follow the Prophet"
Repeat with a new child and next Blessing value.  Do as many cards as you have time for.  Bear Testimony of the blessings we receive when we follow the prophet.
